GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the following appointments:

Anne Baker, 52, of Sacramento, CA has been appointed deputy secretary of external affairs for the California Environmental Protection Agency. She most recently served as the principal consultant for the Budget Subcommittee on Resources in the California State Legislature. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Baker is a Democrat.

Shad Balch, 30, of Los Angeles, CA, has been appointed director of communications for the Department of Corporations. He joins the administration from the Secretary of State's office where he most recently served as regional office manager and deputy press secretary. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Balch is a Republican.

Drew Bohan, 40, of Santa Barbara, CA, has been appointed assistant secretary for policy for the California Environmental Protection Agency. Since 2000 he has served as the executive director of the Santa Barbara Channelkeeper, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Santa Barbara Channel. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Bohan's party affiliation is decline-to-state.

Richard Breitmeyer, 50, of Davis, CA, has been appointed state veterinarian for the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Breitmeyer is a nationally renowned veterinarian and has served at the California Department of Food and Agriculture since 1984. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Breitmeyer is a Republican.

Anita Gore, 45, of Dixon, CA, has been appointed assistant director of communications for the Department of Conservation. Most recently Gore served as the assistant director of communications for the California Department of Finance. This position does not require Senate confirmation.. Gore is a Republican.

Douglas Hoffner, 31, of Elk Grove, CA, has been appointed assistant director of legislation for the Department of General Services. He has been serving as executive director for Connerly & Associates. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Hoffner is a Republican.

Gary Hunt, 55, of Corona Del Mar, CA, has been appointed chairman of the California Bay-Delta Authority. Hunt has been a member of the Authority as the Bay-Delta Public Advisory Committee designee and is managing partner of California Strategies, LLC. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Hunt is a Republican.

Nancy Lungren, 48, of Olympic Valley, CA, has been appointed assistant director of the Office of Community and Public Affairs for the Department of The Youth Authority. Lungren most recently served as the Eastern Sierra representative for California State Senator Rico Oller in Olympic Valley. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Lungren is a Republican.

Jerry Moss, 68, of Los Angeles, CA, has been appointed member of the California Horse Racing Board. Moss is a horse owner and breeder. This position requires Senate confirmation. Moss' party affiliation is decline-to-state.

Kelvin Pye, 44, of Sacramento, CA, has been appointed assistant director of the Enterprise Systems Division of the Stephen P. Teale Data Center. Pye most recently was a senior information technology specialist in the IC Engineering Division at Chevron Energy Research and Technology Company. This position does not require Senate confirmation.. Pye's party affiliation is decline-to-state.

Michele St. Martin, 33, has been appointed assistant secretary for communications for the California Environmental Protection Agency. Before joining the Schwarzenegger campaign and administration, she served as chief consultant to the Republican Women's Caucus in the California Legislature. This position does not require Senate confirmation.. St. Martin is a Republican.

Mike Wintemute, 33, of Elk Grove, CA, has been appointed deputy director of communications for the Department of Fish and Game. Prior to joining the administration, Wintemute served as the communications director for the Assembly Republican Caucus. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Wintemute is a Republican.
