March 1st, 2004 GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER APPOINTS JACK CORRIE AS CHIEF DEPUTY DIRECTOR FOR STRATEGIC SERVICE DELIVERY, DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointment of Jack Corrie as chief deputy director for strategic service delivery at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
"Jack's track record in information technology and state government gives me great confidence in his ability to streamline and modernize operations at the Department of Motor Vehicles," said Governor Schwarzenegger.
Corrie has served since 1998 as the chief information officer and chief of the Information Technology Services Division for the California Public Employees' Retirement System. In that position he was responsible for strategic, business, and information systems planning, as well as day-to-day operations for the System's self-contained data center and applications development and maintenance operation. Before joining CalPERS, Corrie was the chief information officer and deputy director for the Department of Corrections. Corrie joined the Department of Corrections as a correctional officer in 1983 and served in a number of positions before being promoted to chief of the Information Systems Branch in 1988. He served as assistant deputy director of the Evaluation, Compliance and Information Systems Branch from 1991 to 1995, and as deputy director from 1995 to 1996. Corrie is a former chairman of the Government Technology Conference Advisory Board and a member of the Worldwide Executive Council, IEEE Society, PMI Society, National Retirement Association, and was one of the founding members of the California Law and Technology Foundation.

Corrie earned a Master of Science degree and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Palmer Green. He also received his Masters Certificate in Information Systems Project Management from George Washington University. Corrie, 48, is a resident of Sacramento and a registered Republican. This position does not require Senate confirmation.
