GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the following appointments:

Curt Augustine, 44, of Davis has been appointed deputy secretary for legislation for the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. Augustine most recently served as the executive vice president of the California Coalition for Construction in the Classroom. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $98,508. Augustine is a Republican.

Happy Susan Jean Chastain, 47, of Sacramento has been re-appointed deputy secretary for legislation for the State and Consumer Services Agency. She has served in this position since her appointment by Governor Pete Wilson in 1997. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $106,920. Chastain is registered decline-to-state.

Patrick Dorinson, 51, of Folsom, has been appointed deputy secretary of communications for the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. He most recently was the director of public relations at the Mirant Corporation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $103,008. Dorinson is registered Independent.

Norma Fox, 71, of Auburn has been appointed to the Gold Country Fair Board of Directors. She is the director of the 20th District Agricultural Association and has served on this board since 1999. She is also the manager of Equine, Etc. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Fox is a Republican.

Olive Goodrich, 68, of Rocklin has been appointed to the Gold Country Fair Board of Directors. She is a volunteer at Eskaton Hospital. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Goodrich is a Republican.

Isam Hasenin, 45, of San Diego has been appointed to the State Building Standards Commission. He is currently the chief building official and the chief deputy director for the City of San Diego Development Service Department. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is a $100 per diem. Hasenin is a Republican.

Marilyn Hendrickson, 65, of Vacaville has been appointed to the Fish and Game Commission. She is the owner and operator of Sep's Pro Fishing, Inc. and the producer of the "California Sportsmen" radio show on KHTK 1140AM in Sacramento. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is a $100 per diem. Hendrickson is a Republican.

L. Rachael Montes, 58 of El Monte has been appointed to the California State Lottery Commission. She has been a small businesswoman for 35 years in sales and consulting and as the owner and operator of Raquel's Hair Fashions in El Monte. She was also the first Latina elected mayor of El Monte in 1999. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is a $100 per diem. Montes is a Republican.

Robert Pernell, 54, of Sacramento has been appointed to the State Building Standards Commission. He is the founder and chairman of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools, Inc., a consortium of utility, public interest and government agency partners promoting energy efficient schools as a tool for improving learning. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is a $100 per diem. Pernell is a Democrat.

Kelly Richardson, 54, of Auburn has been appointed to the Gold Country Fair Board of Directors. She has been a member of the board since 1995 and is a local real estate agent in the Auburn area. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Richardson is a Republican.

Clifford Stokes, 50, of Loomis has been appointed to the Gold Country Fair Board of Directors. He is the general manager of Hanzlick Enterprises and previously served as a professor of animal science at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Stokes is registered declined-to-state.

Roberta Tuttle, 66, of Rocklin, has been appointed to the Gold Country Fair Board of Directors. She is a retired tax preparer. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Tuttle is a Republican.

Mark Uyeda, 33, of Los Angeles has been appointed chief advisor to the commissioner of the Department of Corporations. Uyeda most recently served as counsel in the Los Angeles office of the law firm O'Melveny & Meyers. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $111,768. Uyeda is a Republican.
