Great pictures of the incredible and mercurial King of all his surveys, the inimitable Arnold Schwarzenegger. i was reading in Arnold’s book “Total Recall” that he had lost to only thrice in his career during his competitive years of bodybuilding. Once in his first Mr. Universe title participation to Chet Yorton. Another loss was in the later Mr. Universe title to Frank Zane. Another loss was in his first Mr. Olympia title participation to Sergio Oliva. But the all other titles he won and won.
Even retiring from competitions in 1975 Mr Olympia he came back to competition in 1980 when he was making the film “Conan The Barbarian” and in the last moment he thought about to take part in the competition of Mr. Olympia in 1980 and he once again won and retired from competition.
But Arnold writes that his come back in 1980 led to disappointment to some of the bodybuilders who had pinned their hopes in winning and when Arnold won there was a feeling of hard feelings among some competitors. But Arnold took upon building good camaraderie to removing the misunderstandings. And after that he never competed.
But he was always trying to promote the championships and uplift the sport of bodybuilding from an obscure sport when Arnold had started, to make it a favorite sport among people from all the different walks of life.
In Delhi, everywhere new gyms are being opened. The Delhi Government and every health and fitness professionals are promoting about the positive effects of living with a healthy both physical and mental. For a healthy mind there is a great link between the body and the mind. Everywhere there are people who are being afflicted with so many psychosomatic illnesses due to faulty lifestyle.
So Arnold’s contribution about healthy living and exercising to take care of our health is very inspiring coming from Arnold himself. Who could know more than this man who still is working out to stay in top shape even at this age.

Back in shape….

Great to see in this picture - the latest for Arnold to bulking up. In recent times judging by the some of the photos after his political career ended Arnold looked really thin and lean. also he went through some of the worst period of his life after his dear wife Ms. Maria Shriver and Arnold decided to part ways with the children who were really sad. Arnold writes that it had been a very painful experience for him since he had always been a family guy and he really loved his family consisting of not onlyhis most nearest and dearest wife : Maria Shriver and his children but also his father-in-law Mr. Sargent Shriver and his mother-in-law Eunice Shriver. He really looked up to his family. His every decision had been consultation between Arnold and Maria. Arnold looked up to Maria a lot and admired her very much. i read in one of Arnold’s interview that he still talks to Maria often.

Arnold’s career had been a roller-coaster ride wherein his initial dream as to build the most muscular body and conquer the world of bodybuilding after coming to America and become a highly successful actor of Hollywood. But he writes that after achieving both these goals he decided in a very crucial step in his life to contest the elections for Governorship and fascinatingly he succeeded even in this so difficult choice of a career. In fact after winning the Recall election for Governorship he had made some mistakes like calling the Legislature “girlie men” due to which many were hurt.

He writes that in the first term he had not a good relations with Legislature. Also the unions were a source of major roadblock and worry. He became immersed in these problems. Also the state California was facing fiscal-budget problems and there was recession throughout the world. After his first term as Governor he became indulged in lots of issues but after successfully being reelected once again for another term he changed his staff and became mellowed down and more open to communication with the Legislatures and decided to build the infrastructure of California and carry out health reforms and apologized to the voters for letting them down and in his second term he overcame the roadblocks that had him worried. Of course being a Republican and his wife Maria being Democrat due to her Kennedy family gave him an advantage to work with both Republicans and Democrats.

He writes that when he came to America as immigrant he watched speech of President Richard Nixon which inspired him a lot and he said he would also be a Republican. Arnold also worked in George Bush Senior’s Staff of President’s Council of Health and Physical Fitness as a Chairman. He writes that when the American soldiers were deployed in Kuwait Arnold supplied weight-training supply of equipments to Kuwait so that the American soldiers in Kuwait could work out. Arnold went to visit South Africa’s Nelson Mandela, Russia’s Gorbachev, met the great boxer Muhammad Ali, and all the big and important personalities including cordial relations with former President Bill Clinton and now President Barrack Obama despite them being Democrat. Arnold writes that he has received the maximum satisfaction and pleasure while he was the Governor of California, among all the other careers that he had chosen and worked in.

Arnold has been and still is involved with the Special Olympics, the Inner City Games,  Mr. Universe, Mr. Olympia, Arnold Classic.

Arnold writes in his book that in his growing up stages his father had used physical punishment on him. Arnold had an older brother named Meinhard. When they were boys they were good friends with each other. Their father was a very strict disciplinerian. They lived in the Austrian village Thal near the town Graz. If Arnold wanted anything to purchase his father would tell him to earn it. Meinhard in his childhood was frightened of the dark and he had to walk to his house from his school often late after dark. Arnold’s parents used to send Arnold who also was a boy then and was also afraid but he didn’t reveal his feelings to his parents.Arnold writes that his first experience of watching a movie was a “Tarzan” film and he liked it very much. Arnold’s father took both Arnold and Meinhard to watch the movie. Arnold writes that in his boyhood he had a knack for business. After watching at the beach people buying ice-cream he too sold ice-cream to earn his pocket-money. After sometime he left this and he asked for money feigning innocence that he had lost his purse. He was fascinated by action movies, war movies, etc.His experience at school was not fond memories since his teachers used physical punishment too. He remembers the parent-teacher meetings where every dad would hear complaints from teachers and would then hit his child. Arnold writes that his parents couldn’t afford even refrigerators, a comfortable toilet, and other amenities. Arnold and Meinhard would have to fetch water from the well outside their house and then they would use the water for household chores and bathing and washing. His father was the local police-inspector and thus they got respect from their community and a decent house to live in.. Arnold writes that his father could play many musical instruments and often played music at some or the other social-gathering. But Arnold jokes that he never inherited the gift of music from his father’s genes. He has a fond remembrance of having cats as pets in their house. His mother’s favorite cat was one named “Mooki”, and she always believed Mooki was special. Once Arnold was quarrelling with his mother and his mother tried to slap him and Arnold also tried to put up resistance, but Mooki watching all this leaped at Arnold and tried to attack Arnold, a boy then. Instantly both Arnold and his mother stopped the fight and started laughing. His mother finally had evidence of Mooki being special. Both Arnold and Meinhard admired their father very much him being a strong and big guy. Thus later Arnold said that he had good genetics since his mother was also a strong and sturdy woman. Arnold writes that due to such hard times they faced Arnold also grew strong and converted the harshness around him for his drive, desire and dream of making it big in America. His parents were worried about this dream and wanted to put some sense in him. But Arnold had made up his mind. His first foray into bodybuilding was when after playing soccer the whole team were brought into the weight-training room in the stadium. He instantly decided that he would make this as his dream. He was awed by the huge muscular guys exercising. And so the bodybuilding world got its greatest star, the “King” of bodybuilding. Arnold remembers that he was desperate for success in an individual sport because winners of other sports always goes the credit to a team. He always felt that something to pursue which would always credit him as the champion and not like in other sports where the whole team deserved credit for. He wanted to be singled out as the champion. Of course he was very ambitious but he followed it up with great hard work. He always visualized everything and set up his plans, targets and goals in his mind and then would go for it. If he didn’t have the ambition and drive he would never have been this successful.
